An alternative suggestion: Fly to LGW. Take the First Capital Connect to St Pancras International. Take a train from Kings Cross to Newcastle.

The train between LGW and St Pancras might be a more reliable bet, time-wise, than gambling on the M25 on a Friday evening. And you can arrive at Kings Cross closer to your train departure time than you can arrive at T5.

It looks like the last train is at 2200 on the current timetable, and the first train on Saturday morning is 0615 arrive 0941, should something go badly wrong. Obviously, you'd probably want to get a ticket with some flexibility.
