Welcome to FT

You could check the cost of a child UC ticket and see how that compares to a full Y ticket and then upgrading (and then you'll save some miles too). You'll have to ring them for a quote though as you can't buy a solo child ticket online

You might also want to compare the costs of buying the right Y bucket (need to be in Y.B.R or L to use miles to upgrade) against that of a straight Z discount UC fare.
