The reason for the problem in the first place is that inconsiderate smokers choose to smoke in non-smoking rooms. I have noticed that even smokers don't like the stench of their own bad habit.

Inspect your room thoroughly as soon as you walk in the door. If there is soemthing that you don't like then alert the staff ASAP.
