Had this happen to me. Same outcome, still could smell the smoke. I ultimately changed rooms (multi-day stay) the next day. The very important thing to note to the FD is that YOU did not create the smoke smell. There is a hefty fine for smoking in NS rooms.
You can complain to the FD but Hilton hotels do not have the 100% satisfaction guarantee though they may give you a few points as compensation.
