True, but as I will be flying in an upgraded seat on UA and earning 2x RDM (due to status), it won't hurt as much

The point of the promo I assume is to attract marginal business that would have gone to competitors. But if your product is not as good (no F for elites) and you piss off the customer by severely restricting the promo, you won't get that marginal business. Penny wise, pound foolish.
