Been through with a broken leg in a brace, on crutches, in a wheel chair and now with a knee replacement. I can tell you the TSA agents are usually very nice and accommodating, but SLOW. Allow yourself plenty of extra time. There are wooden canes for your use at the checkpoints usually. I was never asked to remove the brace, but almost always involved a pat down of at least the leg.
