We needed to change dates and I was pretty confident I would not find 4 peak season seats to Asia on any carrier (especially on DL metal). I was absolutely right about DL metal; it was sold out altogether (no awards available) on my desired travel dates. I checked ExpertFlyer and was shocked to see China Southern availability is wide open for travel all around the holidays and beyond on the A380 LAX-CAN and return. I was able to get us 4 tickets on our preferred travel dates along with onward connections to SE Asia all in business class.
When I booked the flights were I9 O2 on both LAX-CAN and CAN-LAX; tons of business seats available but very few economy seats. There is a YQ surcharge so be warned (about $330 per person for our itineraries). Saved a boatload of miles from my original reservation so was happy to pay the YQ. Book away!

IME, having the U.S. based agents to look for award seats for LAX-CAN is like pulling teeth.
