My original itinerary for an award redemption was BCN to LHR (BA), LHR to JFK (BA), JFK to SFO (BA) switched to BCN to MIA (AA), MIA to SFO (AA). Agent said I was "reaccomodated" because of a change in one of my BA flights and because they had to force me onto a full AA flight I am not entitled to a refund of fuel surcharges.
So I want to know if this is accurate or if I should call back to get a refund of fuel surcharges. Thanks.
They involuntarily switched you to a different award which does not carry YQ. They are lazy and do not want to re-claim YQ from BA. Of course you should get it back. Push your case all the way. Make it test case. Using their own method: Your itineray need to be
re-priced resulting in FULL YQ refund. To keep the YQ when you do not fly BA at all is probably illegal. If it was the other way around I am sure they would have charged BAYQ
