Of course there is some risk. How many things in life have absolutely zero risk? What, if anything, do we need to do against this risk? Hmm...

Do you spend every morning deploying a series of elaborate countermeasures just in case someone crashes their vehicle into yours on your way to work? Of do you just fasten your seatbelt like everyone else, having noted that although it can't completely prevent you being injured in an accident it's a great balance between your time and money and the chance of being involved in an accident vs. its simplicity yet its reliable ability to stop your head going through your windscreen in the unlikely event of an accident?

There is the side issue that if someone can make a lot of money out of doing or selling X, then of course that person or his lobbyists will say that we should all be buying X. Especially if he can somehow claim X solves security issue Y that is otherwise near impossible to solve. It doesn't matter if X isn't actually going to solve security problem Y, the CYA factor kicks in ... end result: X makes a lot of money, problem Y not actually solved, the general public isn't actually safer, just poorer...
