Does landside mean I need to go through customs to get to to Caffe Nero? I assume that they just stock sandwiches, the whole Cafe isn't kosher, right?

Unfortuantely Yes, when you must go Landside it means going thru Offical Arrivals and then back thru Security to get Airside.
If youre traveling with your whole family it might not be so easy to get around or cheap. But why not arrange for a car service to take you to/from
