I am curious about this because an acquaintance of mine is still getting word from the hotel implying that it is not required to provide complimentary 4 p.m. late checkout because it is classified under the "resort and conference center" exemption with regard to this benefit for Platinum/Gold/PreferredPlus guests.
The hotel claims something about the Westin Copley Place actually being considered a convention/conference center hotel under that (resort/conference center) exemption because the bulk of their business comes from conventions booked internally and being connected to the Hynes convention center. Sure, the part about getting a lot of convention center business is very much true; however, this hotel -- unlike the Sheraton Colonial in Boston -- is not on the list of SPG participating properties classified under "resorts and conference centers".
Surely, this can be set straight here. That, or get a hold of the hotel's guest services head at the property to make sure I don't have to hear about this again from my acquaintances since the property doesn't seem to have any issue with having apparently failed to grant complimentary 4 p.m. late check-out to Platinum/Gold/PreferredPlus guests.
Thanks.
Again...at this time, this property is not considered to be a convention or conference center property where a 4 PM late check-out can be subject to availability.
