Further to above also look at MEL & BNE.
Sydney is not the only airport in Australia that a B747 - A380 can land / take off .
Possibly BA and Qantas do not realize that

Also the end on BA QF JSA (joint service agreement ?) in March 2013 may have an unknown effect.
QF are going to codeshare some flights with Emirates
