I too was wondering what "blocked" in ExpertFlyer means. Here is the specific situation.

A couple of weeks ago I was trying to pick a seat for an upcoming LAX-NRT flight in biz. 10A/C/K were shown as "blocked" according to EF, but they were available on JL website so I picked 10C. 10H was already occupied on both.

As of now 10A/K are still shown as blocked on EF but available on JL website, while there are only two open seats in biz other than the blocked ones. My best guess is that 10A/C/H/K are reserved for elites, although they aren't particularly good seats and I'm EXP with AA but no status with JL. I'm also secretly hoping that 10A might be the last to be filled along with 10K. Has anyone had similar situation?
On the Preferences tab of the My Account page in ExpertFlyer we have a spot for you to enter a frequent flyer number & airline for JL Seat Map searches. This is because JL will show a different seat map to those that have elite status on JL or one of its partner airlines. Did you happen to do that?
