I can't figure out how to make Czech, Alitalia, Kenia or Saudia price out a trip that would be just a non-stop from continental US to their hub then a direct flight onto JNB.
If you cannot buy a revenue ticket for a particular route USA-Africa, then it that route will not price as a single award either.
USA-AMS-Africa or USA-CDG-Africa is one award. Some of your other ideas might be, too, but maybe not if not a published route.
ATL-JNB is one of Delta's nicer routes.
