Thanks SC, Till. I think I will go with the softest loafers I can find. Would you have any recommendations?
Flubber, thanks for the heads up. I believe that I try my best to travel light and buy only one of everything that I need, not being flashy but actually quite prudent in purchasing items of quality that will last and travel well, and which will not take up too much room. I am sorry if it comes across as an attempt to be sophisticated or elite; think of it as a modest attempt to be someone who is traveling light and good (hence the Bingham 'One Case' references and thread.) I am always willing to learn, and before anyone makes any further assumptions, I am in the least glamorous part of the rag trade.
At this time I am thinking of sand/tan/brown leather loafers with rubberised soles (the softest possible - and no laces or wingtips, bits or other doodads - and no leather soles please) to replace my Lattanzis on the road, and to wear with chinos and around during the day, and a pair of black shoes when I am wearing a suit.
