I agree with the other posters about the standby fee. It's the policy. I think there's a thread out here somewhere that explains the reasoning...which sometimes really does make sense.
Totally +1. The OP paid for a product he did not receive. Yeah I've been on those 319s. Zero difference between any other seat for BCDE. US should have refunded him the money instantly and also indicate upon check in those exit row seats do not offer any more additonal leg room. Shame on US.
