If it is all on a single ticket, the bags can be checked through. Since the flight is an international connector (flight number starts with 0), customs and immigration would happen at CCU.

Since they are on seperate tickets, it's up to the agent. It can be done, but you have to pray for a competent and helpful agent, and you need to have your ticket number handy...
