So it all depends on whether you're being offered the special offer fixed price upgrade (which IME is always marked as a special offer), or whether you're seeing the normal fare rules (fare difference plus change fee) upgrade cost. If it's the latter, then you can MFU thereafter. If it's a special offer upgrade, you can't MFU thereafter.
