My wife had some items stolen from one of our bags on a SEA-JNU flight over Labor Day weekend. To compound the issue, the ticket counter agent at SEA double-tagged one of our four checked bags and the one from which the items were removed was the one that didn't get tagged. It spent the night in SEA. This sort of thing happens everywhere, all the time (unfortunately).

Wife had visited outlet stores in RNO and YVR and six items of clothing from those purchases were missing (along with two 2-qt jars of homemade raspberry jam) when the bag was reunited with us the morning after we returned home. We filed a claim with AS and expect to be made whole. Will advise.
