With BA in a strange way you aren't "pushed" to fly as if you are gold then fly very litlle one year you just go down to silver and then you can push back to gold
But there is no real incentive to get the 1500 tier points year on year and the difference with BA silver vs gold ain't massive
The difference between BA gold and silver is not massive, but I find it very significant. A major benefit is access to F lounges throughout the OW network. Not only GF in LHR which I find superb (OK, not CCR but great), but also CX F in HKG, QF F in SYD, JL F in NRT. The difference between FB Gold vs Plat is less massive.
