No, they aren't! They are positively rude...
It's amazing the number of people who don't comply with a simple request to wait 2 minutes (notwithstanding the fact that some people won't understand English).
The "announcers" are obviously trained by John Cleese; I have seen obviously non-English-speaking pax be shouted at multiple times... getting louder and ruder each time... NB: the announcer didn't try the obvious question: "do you speak English?" [quietly and politely].
It's awful. Absolutely awful.
