I like loafers, and usually travel with them. Now that winter has come, I am not so sure about loafers as my second pair of shoes. Usually only older men wear loafers with socks, and they aren't too good without socks in winter or even now in fall. If you had the choice of loafers or sneakers, what would you choose (the first pair of shoes being dress shoes for a suit) ? Check out my Ryan Bingham thread to see what I am wearing with them.
