actually they do gain alot , 1- as it was you had to get lucky if a rep told you by how many a flight was oversold by, CO hopes by hiding how many tkts they are willing to sell for any given fare class that they will be keeping that info not only from its competitors but will also not allow us to book aflight that may yield a better chance of getting a VDB
The revenue bucket info was no greater than what you'd get through a GDS. They only publish numbers up to 7 (or was it 9?). The actual total inventory available in each bucket is only available internally. I imagine the reservation agents have it but they are definitely not supposed to give out the actual numbers.
