I'm surprised at some of the comments above.
The only option I was given for a complete day at 8am was economy via Chicago (it was on american and economy all the way). I wasn't happy but accepted this and was told it was booked. it was only when I asked for more details, I was then told it wasn't booked.
I'm fairly sure BA cancelled the flight as they didn't want to operate it. And even if it was a technical fault, they had plenty of time to put something else in place.
Ranting yes, but very poor customer service from BA as they really didn't even try to help.
