Moral of the story: you have nothing to be upset about. Cancellations happen, and they presented an alternative. If you didn't like that then say no. But you said yes. Sure, would have been nce to get a more knowledgable agent but that doesnt always happen. Be proactive. Have a list of other routes available to tell the agent.
I think you got this wrong. OP said the option via ORD is economy against what he booked premier Economy. So he decided to go against it.

BA should offer alternatives best fit the origional booking. Obviously they can offer nearby airports to PHL.
