That MPM is very generous, fully 3000 miles more than the MIA-SVO-VVO routing. Think stopover and maybe a just-under-24 hour connection some place interesting.
How strict is Delta about the most direct route? Could one use Alitalia from MIA-Rome-SVO-VVO?

Also how many stopovers within Russia/Europe are you allowed?
