From a frequent-flier point of view this is a dream come true. Not only does this arrangement have the possibility of improving the network for us AA flyers but it also allows us to redeem without the horrendous fuel surcharges that British Airways charges.

The big question is, will flights on emirates earn EQMs and bonus RDMs or not, or will the relationship simply be one where we redeem miles on EK.

Let's hope for the best but I'm pretty excited?
