Terrible for intra-european flying but it would leave QF/CX/JL with the transpacific market, AA with the Europe- The Americas market and Emirates with the rest of the world.
EK doesn't have fuel surcharges at all. I'd trade no-surcharge EK for surcharge happy BA in an instant.
