Travelling within US (domestic flights) on a UK driving licence.

Hi folks,

I've been reading this forum for a while, y'all seem super helpful so I thought I'd finally sign up as I had a question I hope you can assist with.

Here's my back story (I'll try to keep it brief).

- I am a UK citizen
- I came here on May 16th on the 90 day tourist visa (Visa Waiver Program)
- The 90 days expired on 12th August 2012.
- I got married on 30th July 2012. (Genuine marriage)

My plan is to apply for the Spouse visa, and I understand that I have to do it within 90 days of my visa expiring? That plan is in motion, once we receive our certified marriage certificate and my wife's divorce papers from a few years back.

Once I start the application for the spouse visa and Adjustment Of Status (AOS), I cannot leave the US until my visa is approved (or denied!).

My question is this, if I travel internally within the US during this time and I haven't yet filed the paperwork, they obviously will check my passport for my name to match the flight ticket, but will they be checking my passport to see whether any visa stamp has expired?

Would I be able to use my provisional UK driving licence instead, (still an official form of UK government issued ID) to get around this potential problem?

If I encountered any problems with the TSA after showing them my passport, i guess I could explain what I have told you guys above - that I am married and about to apply for the spouse visa and AOS? - and I could show them the marriage certificate and/or copies of the visa application when I eventually file it. But I'm more concerned with what might happen BEFORE I am able to file the paperwork.

Any help or guidance you might be able to give me is hugely appreciated.
