SFO-MSP/DTW/AMS/CDG/JFK-LHR-SVO-VVO appears to be a valid routing. (I just checked CDG, but the other hubs should be clear, too, given how far CDG is under the MPM.) Fly DL/AF/KL to LHR, enjoy the stopover, and then fly SU the remainder of the way. It's worth comparing pricing between stopping on the way to VVO and on the way back. Russia is one of the few countries where the UK APD is banded differently for different parts, if I recall correctly.
