I'd stick with BA to BKK. Both TG and Air Asia fly onwards to RGN which gives some flexibility.
Just a note of caution for anyone looking to book Air Asia (FD) to RGN or even to Mandalay when they start flying there in December. They are moving from BKK (Suvarnabhumi) to DMK (Don Meaung) on the 1st October which means that connecting or transferring to them from LH flights will be difficult at the best of times. Expect to leave at least 5-6 hours between arrival and departure times!
