The award reservations and the Diamond guarantee are two completely issues. The awards have NO restriction that the reservation must be used by the Diamond (or Gold or any other member) using the points to make the reservation whereas the Diamond guarantee specifically states that the Diamond member must occupy the room.
I would NOT take the chance.
+1. The Diamond force is for Diamond members, not for Diamond members and everybody who knows a Diamond member. If every Diamond member did this for his friends, coworkers, and relatives, the number would explode, and Hilton would have to cancel the benefit.
