If I desperately need to access the internet with my tablet outside the confines of wifi, I will spend the 30 seconds to start up my portable wifi hotspot on my smartphone. Naturally, it all depends if you have such functionality on your phone (and whether it's free or a monthly cost through your cell phone provider).

I'm also thinking the 32GB model is probably all I'd need vs. 64 based on my usage, but again dependent upon what you all say.
If you plan using your Fire HD as an offline media player (lots of movies and music)--i.e., as your own personal IFE on the plane--then go for the 64GB. Otherwise, 32GB should suffice.
