It really depends on how many miles to be flown after becomming 1K. Assuming that you will "only" fly another 75,000 miles after becomming 1K, since that is your normal flying, you will receive an extra 25,000 bonus miles (earning 100% rather than 75%). You would need to do 25,000 EQMs in MRs to move from Platinum to 1K just to get it. That sounds like a wash, but only only if the air fare saved using the 25,000 award miles (actually 31,250 award miles including the bonus earned on the 25,000 EQMs) is in place of travel that would have been at higher CPM than you experience during your MRs.
