Just make sure your boss understands the possible issue.
The award reservations and the Diamond guarantee are two completely issues. The awards have NO restriction that the reservation must be used by the Diamond (or Gold or any other member) using the points to make the reservation whereas the Diamond guarantee specifically states that the Diamond member must occupy the room.
I would NOT take the chance.
