Been to both Valencia and Barcelona last year during October. Valencia is a quaint old town that is easily walkable. Can be seen in a day or two. Nightlife is suprisingly good. I am not into dance clubs, but found a raunchy fun leatherbar, "Nuncadigono".
I found gay nightlife in Barcelona snobbish. Too much narcism for my taste.
