I dont recall but the one plane I was on they secured items behind that seat, so it prevented the seat from fully reclining. Not soft items, but a metal holder was there holding something. Because of the pitch there may as well be enough room, its a good cabin and most people do go the other way when they exit the washroom. You can always place the washroom out of order?
