The word 'eatable' does not exist. Never has done, and most probably never will do. Something that can be eaten is 'edible' - YES, with a 'D'.
I'm with Swiss Tony on this. I think BBB meant easy to eat as opposed to edible.
Having said that, eatable is very much a word.
