I can understand checking in at 9am, but 5 is a little pushing it. I have been lucky at a few hotels, but I emphasize the word lucky. I would be within their rights to expect a charge at many hotels.
BUT
If you had Your 24, this is the proper use of the benefit.
WHY didn't you use it?
HOWEVER, the flip side of Your24 is being required to check-out at the same time (5am, in this caes). Perhaps this didn't fit with your plans....
