Now , I noticed that your location is YVR, can I ask you one more question?

If I am arriving from YUL to YVR, then from YVR to HNL, do I have to get the luggage from the 1st flight and then go through US custom at YVR before checking in the YVR-HNL flight?
I have read somewhere that you don't but I am not sure about what to do once in YVR.
