I was chatting w/ my colleague (both of us DM's, he got UG) in front of the magic curtain today as FAs began passing out water bottles. Five hour run to the coast.
"What seat are you again," she asked?
"Uh, I'm in Economy Comfort 12 F. Just wondered if I could have one of those."
"No, we might run out and I still have another pass-through."
Clearly, time to leave.
In the big picture, this is nada. But I never knew Dasani water bottles to be such a coveted amenity. Maybe she was drawing a line, imagining if I was granted a 3 ounce water, I'd be ordering vodka tonics.
I was on a flight today in EC and brought dinner on board. Politely asked the FA as I walked past front galley if I could get a bottle of water. He said sure and opened the bin to grab me one. Thankfully. Had he said no I would not have complained. I could have bought a water in the airport or waited on Y bev service. I purposely chose not to buy a $5 airport water in hopes of getting a free one during boarding. That's the risk I took. You took the same risk with a different outcome.
