Just called in for an update and was told that the escalation process can take up to 10 weeks due to the need for "manual verification" - whatever that means.

[Rant]

I understand that the two airlines have to speak to each other, but in this day and age, is there really an excuse for something like this taking 10 weeks? I've sent in everything they requested (and more) via e-mail, including:
1) My ticket, clearly showing my booking class.
2) An AE.com screenshot, proving the booking class's eligibility.
3) My boarding passes, evidencing my presence onboard.

Shouldn't this be as quick as taking a look and saying "Yep, we screwed up. Give the man his miles."?

As mentioned, I will thankfully make it over the SE threshold with some flights I took yesterday. But if the circumstances were different, and this lengthy delay caused me to miss the early qualification deadline and thus a chance to upgrade a long-haul flight at the 7-day window, I would be quite peeved.
