It is a big deal. Some have principles. Paying the $29 is just as foolish is paying for baggage or purchasing an on board meal. Airlines should receive revenue from selling passage (and carrying freight). One should never pay an airline anything more than the price of a ticket.
Why? Maybe some folks want to get from point A to point B as cheaply as possible, while others want additional perks like enhanced legroom or additional checked bags. Unbundling the costs allows the airline to satisfy both customers.
And $29 is a very rich airport meal. Even my last meal at LHR was under 1/2 that price.
Usually true... though I could easily spend 2x that at 1 Flew South in ATL, which was my Thursday dinner tradition for about 6 months
