Based on what FriendlySkies posted above, would they really hold 905 for 5 hours because of weather in NYC? That will really F things up downsteam if they can't get 847 out tonight.
They wouldn't have held the flight in IST for 5 hours on the idea of "possible thunderstorms" in EWR. The flight would have launched on time and then if the weather was really too bad in EWR they could have diverted. But this time of year the weather is never that bad to worry for five hours. I suspect there was a maintenance problem that prevented the flight from departing on time.
