Yes there is. And it actually can get quite annoying during flight when people continue to think it is a restroom and try and open the door and when the FAs come up and grab something out of the closet. Seat is great, just no overhead bin space in row 1, no restroom anywhere near, and tough for the FAs to get to your seat. I would hands down go with the upper deck

The seat is private though, but it is also tough to climb out of because of the narrow walk way.
But it has more accessible "storage" space as you can place some items on top of the TV area.
I don't like the seat much, so I will change to another seat for my next flight.
Thanks for the feedback. Based on the comments about the closet, I've moved myself back to the upper deck. I could see where that would get annoying.
I may move myself back, SeatExpert.com rates 1K as a "Good Seat," but doesn't mention any rationale. SeatGuru doesn't yet rate any of the J seats as either good or bad. They're all considered average.
SeatExpert rates 72K as a bad seat, due to lav proximity. It still looks like it would be somewhat private otherwise. Is there a curtain between the lavs and the cabin? Seems like there would be extra storage space with it though. Anyone with any experience on this one?
