yes, you can easily ck the amount remaining in several foreign currencies (as can the FD) and after using that amount, pay the difference, if any, in cash or CC (unless you have a 2nd card and then use it)............
another cavaet - check your invoice to verify that the amount used on the GC shows on your Invoice as I've found several props just deduct the credit and then show the remaining debit........... when this happens, no points on GC credits........and NO assistance from MC or CS as nothing to show the amount of GC usage.......
It happens to me once that there are 2 stays paid with GCs are not credited. I got them credited by sending them the invoice to Marriott CS.
It's super annoying that we can't see the transactions of our GCs. Usually I get my Givex receipt to show me how much is left and how much it has been deducted. Remember to ask for that when you check-out.
