JAL & BA Expand Codeshare Arrangements on TYO-LON Routes & Begin Sales of Joint Fares

Japan Airlines (JAL) and British Airways (BA) today announced the start of codeshare arrangements on the routes between Tokyo and London (Heathrow), as well as the sales of joint fares on applicable routes from October 1, 2012.

...

JAL and BA will place their respective flight indicators on the daily service they each operate between London and Tokyo’s Narita airport, as well as on BA’s five weekly flights to/from Tokyo’s downtown gateway at Haneda, jointly offering customers 19 weekly flights between the two cities.

...

In conjunction with the commencement of the Tokyo=London codeshare flights, JAL and BA will also begin selling aligned fares applicable for JAL and BA-operated flights on these routes, originating from either city. With these fares that will be available from both airlines, customers can also choose to use a combination of JAL and BA in a single round-trip itinerary, significantly expanding their flight options.

...

Customers now have the option of flying JAL one-way and BA the other, creating an itinerary that suits their needs, at fares never before available for such a combination. Historically, customers would have to buy the highest tier (Normal Fares) for an itinerary involving one-way sectors on both airlines, but from October 1, this would be possible with all aligned fares.

Reservations and ticket issuance for the new codeshare flights, as well as sales of aligned fares will begin from tomorrow, September 5, for departures from October 1, 2012.
