The bigger concern is how this will affect your ability to get approved for anything with Citi in the future. My wife had this same thing happen and didn't catch it until it was too late to reopen.

Now, whenever she applies for a Citi card, it shows up in their internal system as a closure for cause - the same as not paying the bill.
