Today I got a letter that Citicard decided to close my account due to inactivity - no warning, no nothing - just directly closed.

I called citicard and asked them if they can re-open the account but to make sure that my history is maintained. The lady said yes, they will be able to re-open the account but it still needs to be approved.

I asked her a bunch of times to make sure that the account history is maintained and that this is not considered as a brand new account - and she said it won't.

But she also said she does not know if the account will be approved and she does not know if there will be a credit pull.

I am so confused but I think I just need to wait and see what happens.

Anyone went through this kind of a problem?

I am going to go back to all my old card and put some small spending on them in order to keep them active.

I also want to warn everyone here on the forum to do the same.
I've never had this problem and feel for you. What I have done is rotate my back up cards to use twice a year so they show some activity. I never new this was helpful, but I'm feeling safer now. Hope everything works out well for you.
