I would like to think that FTer's could have some sense of righteousness and understanding when dealing with MP people that are only human and need some sort of proper explanation to correct a MP members account. We don't know what the OP told the MP desk during his first 2 calls but it is apparent that he didn't get the message across or they could have probably helped him then. Finally, he called back, after receiving advise on here, and got the matter resolved.
If the bolded [mine] is indeed what transpired then I agree with you. What we don't know, or at least I didn't glean from the OP, was whether he had all his ducks in a row and still couldn't convince an MP rep what the problem was.
Earlier this year I had a TG domestic flight that didn't credit (all domestic TG flights are eligible for accrual). Probably the third time I called in the rep informed me that an international flight in W doesn't get credit. You see, according to this rep, BKK is in Hong Kong so this is an international flight. This wasn't something she was making up (or so she said) but rather the reason MP denied the credit to begin with. We're not dealing with Rhodes Scholars here.
Due to several experiences like this I'm inclined to give OP the benefit of the doubt that he attempted to articulate the exact problem but the reps just didn't get it. Kind of a Spinal Tap, 'But this goes to 11' situation.
Alternatively if OP bleated out, 'I want my 55K' without the requisite information necessary for the reps to understand the situation then I'd side with you completely.
